Supporting Families Through Gift Card & Food Distribution

At Oregon Rohingya Myanmar Muslim Society (ORMMS), we remain committed to supporting families facing food insecurity and financial hardship—especially newly arrived refugees and households impacted by recent SNAP benefit disruptions.

To help meet immediate household needs, ORMMS hosted a Gift Card and Dry Food Distribution Event at our community space. This initiative focused on supporting low-income families and newly arrived refugee households, particularly larger households with multiple dependents.

Impact of the Distribution

Through this effort, over 50 community households, primarily families with 4–5 members, received gift cards ranging from $100–$150, along with essential dry food items such as rice and cooking oil. These resources helped families cover urgent needs while easing the burden of food and household expenses.

Community-Centered Support

This distribution was made possible through the generous donations of ISOS and the Zakat Foundation, whose support allowed ORMMS to respond quickly and respectfully to community needs. Their generosity ensured that families received assistance with dignity during a challenging time.

We are also deeply grateful to our ORMMS board members, staff, and volunteers who worked together to organize, distribute, and support families throughout the event.

Standing With Our Community

Food insecurity continues to affect many immigrant and refugee families, especially those navigating changes to public benefits. ORMMS remains committed to providing direct assistance, trusted information, and culturally responsive support to ensure families are not left behind.

If you or someone you know needs food assistance or community support, please reach out to ORMMS. We are here to support our community—together.
