Adapting to a new culture, language, and social norms can be overwhelming and isolating. The ORMMS Cultural Adjustment Service provides tailored support to newly arrived refugees, helping them navigate the challenges of adapting to life in the United States.

Housing Support
Securing affordable and suitable housing can be difficult, especially in areas with high demand and limited availability.
ORMMS provides housing support to help the Rohingya, Myanmar, immigrants and refugees community in Oregon secure safe, affordable, and stable housing.

Language Service
Limited proficiency in the local language can hinder communication, access to services, and social integration. ORMMS provides language services aimed at supporting the community in Oregon, particularly those who speak the Rohingya, a Chittagonian dialect spoken primarily by Rohingya, Burmese and many other ethnic languages.

Employment Service
Employment Service Finding jobs that match their skills and experience can be challenging, often due to lack of recognition of foreign qualifications or language proficiency. ORMMS offers employment services designed to assist the Rohingya and Myanmar community in Oregon with securing stable and fulfilling jobs.

Legal Service Support
Complex forms and language barrier can be challenging. ORMMS provides individuals and families with green card applications, citizenship, naturalization processes, refugee/asylee adjustment of status, and document renewals. ORMMS helps ensure that individuals can pursue lawful status, reunite with family, and fully participate in civic life

Active Youth Program
Youth sports activities provide new generations youth with a safe, supportive space to build confidence, improve their physical and mental health, and connect with peers from diverse backgrounds. For ORMMS, it’s a vital way to promote inclusion, reduce isolation, and help young people feel a sense of belonging in their new community.

Healthcare System Support
Navigating the healthcare system and accessing necessary services can be complicated, particularly for those with limited language skills or understanding of the system. ORMMS offers healthcare system support to the community in accessing necessary medical services including guidance on how to navigate health insurance options, finding healthcare providers and terminology.

Hardship Support
Many refugees face economic hardships as they establish themselves, often relying on limited assistance while trying to find stable employment. ORMMS provides hardship support to assist the individuals and families in the community facing financial or personal challenges. This includes emergency financial assistance, food support, and help with accessing local social services.

Community Peer Support
Building new social networks and support systems can take time, leading to
feelings of loneliness and disconnection.
ORMMS fosters a strong sense of community through its peer support program, which connects Rohingya and Myanmar, individuals and families to others within the community who can provide emotional and practical support to helps newcomers adjust to life in U.S.

Survivors Support
Many refugees have experienced trauma, which can impact their mental health and well-being during the resettlement process. ORMMS provides survivor support to assist individuals and families who have experienced trauma, including displacement, violence, and persecution. These services offer emotional support, counseling referrals, and guidance to help survivors heal and rebuild their lives.
