Supporting Safe, Stable, and Affordable Housing Opportunities in East Portland
Oregon Rohingya Myanmar Muslim Society (ORMMS) is proud to announce the launch of our new Culturally Responsive Home Sharing Program, a community-centered initiative designed to support immigrant and refugee families facing housing instability in East Portland.
As housing costs continue to rise, many families in our community experience overcrowding, language barriers, limited access to trusted housing resources, and difficulty navigating complex housing systems. Newly arrived immigrants and refugees are often among the most impacted.
Through this new program, ORMMS aims to create safer and more stable housing opportunities by connecting individuals, families, and homeowners through respectful and culturally responsive shared housing support.
What the Program Provides
The Culturally Responsive Home Sharing Program offers:
Home sharing support and housing navigation
Multilingual assistance and interpretation
Tenant and homeowner guidance
Mediation and conflict resolution support
Education on shared living and tenant rights
Community-centered workshops and resources
Language support may be available in:
Rohingya
Burmese
Karen
Zomi
English
Additional community languages when possible
Who the Program Supports
This program is open to:
Immigrant and refugee individuals and families seeking housing support
Community members interested in affordable shared housing opportunities
Homeowners interested in safely sharing available space
ORMMS believes that housing is more than shelter — it is stability, dignity, safety, and belonging.
Building Stronger Community Connections
The goal of the program is not only to reduce housing instability, but also to strengthen trust, connection, and support within the community. By providing culturally responsive guidance and trusted navigation support, ORMMS hopes to ensure families have access to safe and welcoming housing opportunities.
This initiative reflects ORMMS’s continued commitment to supporting East Portland immigrant and refugee communities through direct services, culturally responsive care, and community-led solutions.
