🌱ORMMS Agriculture & Farming Program: Fresh Food, Stronger Community

At the Oregon Rohingya Myanmar Muslim Society (ORMMS), we know that food is more than something we eat — it’s a way to preserve culture, build health, and bring people together. Many immigrant and refugee families in Portland face barriers to accessing healthy, affordable, and culturally familiar food. Our Agriculture & Farming Program was created to bridge this gap and strengthen community resilience.

🥬 What the Program Does

Through this initiative, ORMMS supports access to fresh produce distribution and culturally meaningful food for families who need it most. By partnering with local food systems and leveraging community knowledge, we ensure that no family is left behind when it comes to healthy meals.

Program Highlights:

  • Fresh Produce Distribution – Seasonal vegetables and greens are available at ORMMS’s Portland location for families in need.

  • Food Security & Health Access – We make sure low-income households, including refugee and immigrant families, can access nutritious meals.

  • Cultural Crops & Traditions – Where possible, we include crops that reflect the heritage and tastes of Rohingya and Burmese families, preserving identity through food.

  • Education & Outreach – Nutrition information, food preparation support, and resources to help families make the most of what they receive.

📍 When & Where

Families can access produce at our community center:

Location: 2410 SE 121st Ave, Suite #208, Portland, OR

Distribution Days: Every Friday from 2PM - 3PM

Cost: Free — open to all families in need (first come, first served).

🌾 Why It Matters

For many, farming and food are a connection to home and heritage. Our Agriculture & Farming Program not only reduces food insecurity — it also creates opportunities to gather, share meals, and celebrate culture. It is about more than nutrition; it is about dignity, belonging, and resilience.
