A look back at another meaningful day of learning, connection, and community health!
ORMMS was pleased to partner with OHSU I-CAN for our Health Literacy Workshop II, held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the ORMMS Community Office.
Building on our previous health literacy workshop, this session provided community members with practical information to help them better understand healthcare, make informed health decisions, and confidently navigate the U.S. healthcare system.
Learning Together for Better Health
During the workshop, participants learned and discussed important topics including:
Understanding the U.S. healthcare system
Accessing healthcare services and preventive care
The importance of annual checkups
Nutrition and healthy living
Stress management and mental well-being
Communicating with healthcare providers
Preventing common diseases and maintaining a healthy lifestyle
The workshop also created an opportunity for participants to ask questions, share experiences, and discuss everyday health concerns in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Making Health Information More Accessible
For many immigrant, refugee, and multilingual families, understanding healthcare information and navigating unfamiliar systems can be challenging.
Through workshops like this, ORMMS works to make trusted health information more understandable and accessible while helping community members build the knowledge and confidence needed to advocate for themselves and their families.
Multilingual assistance helped ensure community members could participate and engage with the information being shared.
Thank You, OHSU I-CAN!
ORMMS extends our sincere appreciation to the OHSU I-CAN team for sharing their knowledge, time, and commitment to community health.
We also thank our community members, volunteers, and everyone who participated and helped make Health Literacy Workshop II a meaningful and engaging experience.
Partnerships like this help us continue expanding culturally and linguistically responsive health education for the communities we serve.
Take a look at some moments from Health Literacy Workshop II as our community came together to learn, ask questions, connect, and build healthier futures.
