At Oregon Rohingya Myanmar Muslim Society (ORMMS), we believe that food is more than nourishment—it is culture, connection, and a pathway to self-sufficiency. Our Agriculture & Farming Program is designed to support immigrant and refugee families in accessing fresh, healthy, and culturally familiar food while building opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.
Why This Program Matters
Many families in our community face barriers to accessing fresh and affordable food, including language challenges, limited income, and lack of culturally appropriate options. At the same time, many bring strong agricultural knowledge and traditions from their home countries. ORMMS bridges this gap by creating opportunities for families to reconnect with farming, grow their own food, and strengthen food security.
What We Offer
Fresh Food Distribution
We provide weekly fresh produce and essential groceries to families in need, ensuring access to nutritious food.
Farming & Gardening Support
ORMMS helps community members start small-scale farming and gardening projects, offering guidance on planting, maintenance, and harvesting.
Training, Tools & Resources
We provide hands-on training, tools, and connections to local agricultural resources so families can grow their own food successfully.
Community Connection
Our program brings people together—sharing knowledge, culture, and experiences while building a stronger, more connected community.
Impact on Our Community
Through this program, families are able to:
Improve food security and access to healthy meals
Preserve traditional crops and cultural food practices
Build self-sufficiency and confidence
Create opportunities for additional income and livelihoods
This is not just about food—it’s about empowering families to thrive.
