Introducing “DIGITAL BRIDGE” Program: Connecting Communities Through Language & Technology

A New Chapter for Our Community

The Oregon Rohingya Myanmar Muslim Society (ORMMS) is proud to officially launch Digital Bridge: Reducing Linguistic & Digital Disparities for Our Community—a transformative initiative designed to ensure that immigrant and refugee families are not left behind in today’s digital world.

In a time where access to information, services, and opportunities increasingly depends on technology, many families in our community continue to face barriers due to language access gaps and limited digital literacy. Digital Bridge is our response—built by the community, for the community.

Why Digital Bridge Matters

For many Rohingya, Burmese, Karen, Chin, and other families in East Portland, navigating online systems can be overwhelming. Whether it’s accessing healthcare, enrolling children in school, applying for benefits, or finding employment, language and technology barriers create real challenges.

Digital Bridge works to:

  • Break down language barriers

  • Increase access to essential information

  • Empower community voices

  • Build long-term digital confidence

What the Program Offers

Digital Bridge combines media, education, and community engagement to deliver impactful support:

Multilingual Media Production

We create culturally relevant videos in Rohingya, Burmese, and other community languages to explain important services and systems.

Community Media Broadcast

Content is shared through accessible platforms to reach families who may not use traditional digital channels.

Digital Access & Education

We provide hands-on support to help community members learn how to:

  • Use computers and mobile devices

  • Navigate online services

  • Access essential resources

Youth Media Training

Young people gain practical skills in:

  • Video production and editing

  • Storytelling and communication

  • Digital technology and media

Who This Program Serves

Digital Bridge is designed for:

  • Rohingya, Burmese, and other all community members and families

  • Youth interested in media, storytelling, and technology

  • Community members who need language-accessible information

Language Access at the Center

We are committed to ensuring accessibility by offering support in: Rohingya, Burmese, Karen, Zomi, English, and other community languages

Our approach prioritizes oral and visual learning styles, making information easier to understand and apply.

Rooted in East Portland

This program is based in the East Portland community (Division area)—a region rich in cultural diversity but often underserved in language-accessible services.

Through partnerships and local engagement, Digital Bridge will expand its reach through community media platforms and direct outreach.
